Wade gave Elle a new nickname: Ellie 'the staller' Hughes. I swear this kid could teach a class in stall tactics. She goes to bed at 9:00 (most nights) and it is a rare occasion if she stops talking and moving before 10:00. No kidding. On Friday night I was super tired and all I could think about from the minute I walked in the door was getting into my bed. But somehow Ellie ended up laying in my bed with me and we started talking. First about silly stuff, but then she started telling me all kinds of stuff about school (have I mentioned here yet that she started a new daycare a few weeks ago?). For weeks we have been asking her how her day is, what she did, what she had for snack, if she made any friends, who she played with and got nothing. Now, at 9:30 at night she is telling me everything, and of course, I loved it.
I can't describe the feeling but I love to hear her talk about people she knows. She was telling me about some of the kids she plays with and she told me that one of her teachers calls her Liz. Which made me laugh. I asked her if she knew that the teacher was talking to her when she called her Liz because that's not her name and she said yes and kind of giggled. And another teacher calls her Lizzy sometimes. Which sounds so weird to me because that's not her name. But anyway, its funny to hear her say "M taught me this" or "R is mean because she says no all the time" I wish I could be a fly on the wall for one day and watch her run around and do her day to day stuff at school.
