Its a Conspiracy

Last week I was thinking I should try to give Elle some more nutritious snacks. Sometimes she eats cereal on the way to Mimi's (Fruit Loops) and she eats crackers (Cheese Its) or fruit snacks on the way home. In my opinion these are pretty good snacks, its not like I am tossing a snickers bar in the back seat every time she says she is hungry. So I packed an oatmeal raisin granola bar in my bag, you know the chewy kind, thinking its a step up from the Fruit Loops and she likes raisins so it might work. One morning when she asked me for a snack, I gave her the granola bar. She asked me to keep the wrapper half on so she could unwrap it herself. I hand it back, she takes a bite...success. Not exactly. Two minutes later she says "Oh no, it broke" The granola bar broke in half and then crumbled right before my eyes....into a sticky mess. Chewy granola bars and hot, humid weather do not mix. It went from a neat little bar to the consistency of sand and glue mixed together. It was all over her legs, her car seat, her hands, her hair...everywhere! And she kept complaining because the pieces that were stuck between her legs and the seat were poking her. Meanwhile, we are only 10 minutes into our 40 minute commute.

Needless to say, that's over. We are sticking to the car foods we know and love. I mean whats a few crumbs compared to sticky oats?
