in stitches

Elle likes to pretend the furniture in the basement is a bounce castle so she jumps from one couch to the other, sometimes turns the ottoman into a slide. I know its not the best idea, but she has a lot of energy and its winter. So we let her get away with it.

Until last night.

She bounced down the stairs, onto the couch, then over the couch and sliced the corner of her eye real good on a tiny folding chair. She started screaming for me and when I got down to the basement she was freaked because she could see the blood on her eye. I grabbed her, got her a towel to soak up the blood that seemed like it was everywhere, told her we were going to the hospital, grabbed my keys and was halfway out the door when she said 'What about my coat? And my shoes?' Oh right. Shoes. Coat. Its winter time. Then I somehow remembered to turn off the pot on the stove and grab my phone so I could call Wade and explain why he was about to walk into a house with all the lights and tvs on, blood on the floor, dinner still hot on the stove and a dog who had no clue what was going on.

We got to the doctor and they sent us to the ER. Turns out Mondays are the busiest day in the ER, who knew. Four hours, two candy bars, two bags of chips and 6 episodes of repeat shows on the disney channel later and we were home at midnight with 3 stitches in her left eye. We told her she looks tough and she wanted to keep the blood in her hair because it looks "cool, like she dyed her hair".
