rattle and hum

Sometimes I question my instincts as a wife, a mother, a woman.

Like Tuesday when I was sitting in my office watching the whole room shake and not really thinking anything of it. In fact, it was not until minutes later that I saw a group of people evacuating the building that I got out of my chair. And then I never even thought to call Wade or Elle's school. I guess I was thinking that whatever had happened only happened where I was, not across the state, much less, the east coast. In my defense, I have never experienced an earthquake, so I had no idea what happened.

Luckily I was snapped out of my coma when Wade called to check on me and said he was going to call and check on Elle.

When I picked her up, I found out she had been sleeping and didn't feel a thing. We inspected the house when we got home and the only thing out of place was a little wooden Pinocchio who sits on a shelf above Elle's bed.
