I took Elle with me to the doctor since it would have taken forever to drive back out to Mimi's to pick her up after and I have been working really hard lately and what better way to reward myself than by taking a half day.
Anyway, my doctor mainly sees elderly patients which makes getting an appointment to see him almost impossible. I'm not sure how I ended up choosing him, but this time I had no problem getting an appointment with him. Guess chest pains can be pretty serious. So when we got to the office, we checked in and got an Applebee's style beeper to hold onto until the nurse came to bring us back to the office. Elle thought it was pretty cool and she surely did not want to give it back when it started buzzing.
Once back in the exam room, we did the whole exam complete with an EKG (which Elle had to sit on the exam table with me for). By the time the doctor came in, she was actually bouncing around the room, climbing up on the exam table and jumping up and down. At first I didn't even notice it, I was standing there talking to the doctor and she was jumping on the table and it took a few minutes before I realized how wrong this was. Ironically the doctor never said a word. He just kept talking to me as if she was sitting there reading a book perfectly still. I am guessing one of his kids is a wild one too.
Then we had to go to the lab for some blood work, where thankfully she did not run over any of the older people with the stroller that she insisted on pushing herself.
All that and the doctor thinks that I have acid reflux. Ummm- duh pal, I have pretty much kept Zantac in business for the last 10 years. The bright side is that he gave me these new pills to take, one a day. And I think they are magical, I have taken one pill each morning for the last three days and have been able to eat anything I want for the whole day. Including a cheese burger at 9:30 last night. Amazing!
