Wade and I both have sun tattoos on our backs, mine is on my right shoulder and his is on his left shoulder. No, we are not super dorks, we did not get them at the same time as some weird marital bond. He got his when he was a junior in high school and I got mine when I was in college.
(That's right, Wade was just as bad as me in high school...we are doomed!)
The funny thing about when I got this little sun tattoo is that one night my good friend Kerrie comes to me and tells me she wants to get her eye brow pierced, and asks me to go with her to Little Vinnie's- a tattoo parlor in Westminster. But she is a little nervous about putting another hole in her face, so she is trying to convince me that I should do something too. I told her I would get a tattoo if she got the eye brow ring. Thinking she was never going to go through with it...
We get into Little Vinnie's and they ask us what we want to do, and we tell them. So figuring that the eye brow ring will be first, I am not too worried. We are sitting, waiting and the guy comes out and calls me back first...yikes. So I quickly pick out the sun tattoo (lots of deep, deep meaning here). The guy gets started and Kerrie comes back to check on me. Everything is going fine and it doesn't hurt near as much as I thought it would.
I finish, get all bandaged up and go out to the front of the place to find my pal Kerrie sitting there with NO eye brow ring in site. She gives me this face and says, I can't do it...I am too scared. I tell her NO way, she is getting this eye brow ring since I just got permanently tattooed. So,she got the eye brow ring. (which came out a few months later when she got a job in OC at a restaurant for the summer)
And that's the story of my awkwardly placed little sun tattoo, not sure what made me think of it. Guess it might have been this time of year when I got it, or maybe because I have been thinking about Kerrie a lot lately.
