A good day to be born

January 2 is a good day to be born...if you were born on that day, you would share a birthday with 2 pretty cool people.
Virginia Ashe Hartley was born on January 2, 1908. She was my mom's mom. I get my height from her (she was about 4 ft 9" tall) and my attitude (yes Wade, I am sorry you never met her to thank her for that). She was so sassy and cute. Sadly, we lost her when I was in high school. I would like to hang out with her now, as an adult, I bet she would crack me up.

Matthew Wilensky was born on January 2, 1923. He is my Uncle Matt. Wade called him Uncle Traveling Matt when he first met him. He is the coolest guy, a few weeks ago I called and was talking to him and said I love you as he was passing the phone to my aunt Claire. The next day he left me a message on my phone, telling me that he was sorry he missed telling me he loved me too so he wanted to make sure he called to tell me so. And to tell me that he is still mad at me because I moved away to Baltimore.
Once he was telling me a story about how beautiful San Diego, CA is and he said the air was so sweet, it was like "smelling a bag of sugar". I think San Diego should use that on their welcome signs.

And these 2 are the reason why you would be lucky if your birthday were January 2.

(here's a picture of me & uncle matt. i will have to find an oldie of me & grandma h)
