Backwards Bloggin'

Today I feel like going back in time...actually all the way back to the beginning of time for Elizabeth. Since the whole point of starting this blog was so we would have something to keep all of our family memories together, I thought it might be good to go way back.

This is the story of how I found out I was pregnant with Elle.

August 9, 2006

I was away at a conference in Philly for a few days and was sure something was not right, and on the second day of the conference, I realized I was "late". When I got home the next night, Wade and I went out to the store because we had to buy ant traps for our bathroom and I ran in to get them and I bought a pregnancy test while I was in there. I offered to place the ant traps in the bathroom and took the test. After the 5 minutes or however long it takes, I called Wade upstairs and showed him the test.
And he said..."So what does that mean?"
I said "What do you think it means? (laughing)
And he said "Well, isn't that what you wanted?"
And he had this smirk on his face that he gets when he is excited about something. But since Wade is not really a jump up and down kind of guy (which is good because I do enough of that for both of us) he just gives the smirk when he is really happy about something.

And that was that. I was pregnant and due on April 13th- my Mom's birthday.

I will not re-live the details of the long pregnancy that was actually a lot better than I could have imagined pregnancy to be(except of course for the evil "morning sickness" and heartburn).

And...on April 10th at 6:03pm, after 18 hours in labor, my little Elle arrived. 6lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. We always knew that if we had a girl her name would be Elizabeth and that we would probably call her Ellie for short. Wade mentioned that he liked the name a long time ago, before we were ever even considering kids. So when the doctor said "It's a Girl" we knew it was Elizabeth. When Wade called his parents to tell them that Elle was here, they asked what her name was. And we didn't have a middle name picked out. So he and I are trying to figure out her middle name and we can't even think straight,Wade suggested Mary and that's what we picked. It's my middle name too.
