stay home day

That's what Ellie calls days off. It makes me a little sad to think that a four year old already knows how great a day off is. I tell her that if we didn't have to go to school and work every day, stay home days wouldn't feel as good as they do.

She had her four year doctor appointment this morning. All week I have been telling her not to worry about her appointment because she wasn't getting any shots. Guess I should have checked with some other moms lying to her, especially about something like shots. For the first ten minutes of her appointment, she kept whispering in my ear that I should 'just ask the doctor if she has to get shots this time.' Of course she got the shots and was not happy about it.

We had already planned our day before we even left the house this morning, after the doctor, we were going to get donuts and then go walk around Toys R Us. But after getting three shots, she decided she needed to go to Toys R Us first. Shopping always makes me feel better too.

We wandered around the store for over an hour, checking out every aisle, which she never gets to do since we are always rushing around on the weekends and usually are shopping for practical stuff, not toys. She picked out a stuffed dog with a pink spot on its eye, and appropriately named her Dot.

On the way home we stopped at the diner for lunch, hung out at home for a little while, had an afternoon snack at Dunkin Donuts and planted some flowers that we bought for the front yard.

A fun day with my best pal. A good way to start off the weekend, I think.
