happy new year

On this, the first day of the new year, I am laying in my bed with Elle, while she watches cartoons, with a jar of starbursts between us.
She just separated all the red and pinks out for herself to eat. I'm not sure if it is because those are her favorite flavors, or because those are the colors on the pjs she has on. Either way, the orange is my favorite, so its fine by me.


I was thinking about this past year and thought I might try to come up with some resolutions for 2011, but then I looked back on my list from last year.

Organize the house- I guess I can sort of check this off, since organizing is kind of an ongoing battle. Its mainly my stuff that needs organizing around here, so I have no one to blame but myself.

Join the pool- Check. Totally worth it.

Be Patient- Hmmm...Not quite there yet on this one either.

Learn something new- Well, I didn't exactly learn anything new, but I did try some new stuff, like making some crafts for a holiday sale and start running. So I am calling this a success too, since I made a little over $200 with the sale and I ran 13.1 miles without bursting into flames.

Spend time at home- I think this was also a success, we did spend a lot of time together, just the 3 of us this year. Considering we were practically snowed in together for a week in February and we spent every free day and night at the pool all summer.

Find a babysitter- Technically, we found one, but we have not used her yet. Pathetic.

I'm thinking that maybe 2011 is the year I resolve to stop trying to make/stick to resolutions. Maybe its time to just come up with some long-term goals instead.
