candyland. sometimes it ain't so sweet

For the past few weeks I have been organizing my creative life, aka cleaning out the back part of our basement which houses all of my art + craft supplies and all of Wade's tools. His side stays pretty neat and tidy, because he is kind of a freak about it and my side...let's just say it needs a good clean out about once a month. I'm not exactly an "everything-in-its-place" type of girl. But that's a story for another day.

In the process of cleaning, I found an unopened game of Candyland. I bought it as a Christmas gift for Elle but considering the state of the basement, I couldn't find it until now. Anyway, I left it on her art table Friday night and she found it when she woke up Saturday. So we played Candyland all weekend. The first time we played, she won. The second time we played, I won. We played again Saturday night and again, she won and then I won. And that's when this story takes its ugly turn.

Ellie is a super sore loser.

She got so mad at me because I won, she would not even look at me. It took a long pep talk from Dad to bring her back to reality. Considering she got this trait from him, he did a pretty good job of explaining to her how to play fair and be a good sport.

And then, they played against each other. Suddenly, it was like watching a two-way mirror with crazy-competitive identical twins on either side. He called her a cheater if she was in the lead and she got all mad if he was in the lead. I can't remember which of the two of them won. I think I stopped watching.
Team sports should be pretty interesting.
