christmas (in a NY minute)

We celebrated Christmas over the weekend McDonough style. On Saturday morning when Elle woke up, she helped Nana decorate her Christmas tree. By the time she was done, the Healeys had arrived and she and Aidan and Clare opened their Christmas presents from Nana and Papa. The kids hung out most of the afternoon playing with their presents and then all the crazy cousins came over to Nana and Papa's and the cousins exchanged gifts.
After the gift exchange, we all bundled up and went into town to watch the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Something I did growing up, so I am happy that Ellie got to experience it. We watched the tree light up and saw the Grinch, who was kind of scary, and searched for Santa. But, like all celebrities, the second Santa stepped off the fire truck, he was whisked away to a private location. Well, maybe not, but the line for Santa was really long so we lost sight of him. Elle was not too happy that she didn't get to see him, but I assured her he would be coming to Baltimore next.
Our Christmas celebration ended at Nana and Papas with dinner, tons a ice cream, charades, lots of laughs and of course, a dance party!
