Last night after dinner Ellie suggested we "take a walk and when we come home we can eat some apple pie". Sadly we have no pie in the house, but we did take a walk. As she skipped and galloped down the sidewalk next to me I said "Step on a crack, you break your mother's back."
She stopped and looked up at me and asked me to say it again so I did and she giggled. She asked me what it meant and I told her it was just a silly old saying.
And she started saying it over and over skipping down the sidewalk all the way home.
Later when we were getting ready for bed, I asked her to turn out the lights. And she of course said no!
So I said "Pretty please", she said no again.
"Pretty Please with sugar on top" Giggles. No! Giggles more.
"Pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry." Uncontrollable giggles.
Almost an hour later the light was still on and we just kept adding more stuff on top of the pretty please, laughing the whole time.
