Sunday afternoon, the rain stopped for a little bit so while Ellie took a nap, I took Magoo out in the yard to throw him the ball and do some spring cleaning. As I was walking around the yard picking up sticks from all the storms we've had, I heard bagpipes. Someone must have been playing music in their yard getting ready for St. Patrick's Day.
It got me thinking about how bittersweet that music sounds to my ears. Since I was a little kid I can remember watching bagpipers in the 4th of July parade and loving that sour sound of those pipes as they played. I can picture so many times standing shoulder to shoulder with my family as we celebrated my sister's weddings or said goodbye to someone we loved, all with bagpipe music playing in the background.
It might be a sound some people only associate with this time of year and St. Patrick's day, but for me its a lot more. Maybe its time to get Elle into bagpipe music. I could see her bouncing around to it and having a great time.

Well said Maun, I totally agree. Bagpipes are a total range of emotion for me too! Happy and SAD!
