Ground Hog's Day

This morning I woke up early and did not walk Magoo (because I am lazy) and got right in the shower. Lately we have been leaving the house closer and closer to 7:30 so I had big plans this morning to switch gears and get back to our normal departure time. No. Such. Luck.
I walked outside to start my car before I got dressed, after I put my bags in the back seat, I heard a jingling noise, like a dog collar. I closed the back door and was about to open the front door to start the car when a dog came up behind me. At first I thought it was this goofy old dog named Sophie who is always running around our neighborhood by herself, but I quickly realized that it wasn't Sophie, it was a big Doberman Pincher. I tried to stay calm, but I couldn't. I wasn't about to let those peace signs and hearts on her collar fool me. So I jumped in my car and shut the door quick. I sat there for a few minutes and I thought she ran across the street, so I got out of the car. Just as I closed the door I turned and saw this dog come charging at me. So I screamed. Which did nothing. In fact, I think she thought it was a game because she tried to jump up on me.
Meanwhile, Magoo is going nuts inside the house and I hear Ellie yell, 'Mommy, don't worry, we are going to unlock the door' I guess she thought I was locked out. So I yell 'Nooooo! don't open the door.' Just what I need is this wild beast in the house! Wade looks out the window at me like I am crazy when I tell him there is a dog chasing me. And in true Wade-style, he opens up the door, slips out on the front stoop, says hi to the dog, and checks her collar. 'Molly...she lives at 1801.' I tell him that's down the street, so he grabs a leash from inside and walks her back home.
Huh, I wonder what it feels like to handle a situation without a complete freak out? Sorry, but there is no way I was going to be calm about that. I mean that dog was taller than me when she stood on her hind legs.

Please, please do not make this be the year I have to re-live Ground Hog's Day over and over and over again.
