A post about Wade...
Saturday morning I had to drop my car off again to have the brakes looked at. I was putting on my jacket and pouting about the fact that I had to walk home in the cold after dropping it off and Wade being the best husband ever was desperately trying to convince Ellie that she should come with him to pick me up. To which she replied "No, you can go by yourself Mom." I finally realized that I had wasted enough time trying to get a ride back that I could have already dropped off and been home.
After the car drop off, I was talking to Wade about stuff I still had to get for Christmas and he offered to drop me off at the mall by myself while he took Elle to gymnastics. This guy is the best, truly! A whole hour and a half all to myself in the mall, it was so fun I didn't even care that all the cute stuff I bought was for other people.
(A quick story about the mall- Last weekend we went to the mall on Friday night and we walked out of Macy's into the mall and Elle looks up and looks all around for a minute and says "What is this place?" I say (super excited) "Its the mall- isn't it awesome?!" She says "I love it here!" That's my girl!)
Then, when we got home he came through the kitchen and grabbed the keys to the shed and when I asked him what he was doing, he gave me that infamous side smile and said "Nothing" and walked out the back door. A few minutes later I could hear the sweet sound of the lawn mower eating the last of the leaves off our front lawn. (I am a big fat nag about leaves, it drives Wade crazy. I love them, but to me its like having a carpet that needs to be vacuumed all the time. So I am always bugging him about them.) Anyway, the yard looks all clean and wintry now.
And finally, I mentioned to Wade that I was thinking about making gingerbread houses with the kids that afternoon (Erin, Aidan and Clare came over after lunch) and he said " Well, if you are going to make them, you better make them to scale." This is the story of my life people, every time I think up something to do, and it can be done easily, Wade decides that we should do it way better and then it turns into his thing. (Which pretty much always ends in my favor- remember back in June when we mulched the garden? Enough said.) So I was planning to make little houses and glue them to the paper plate, you know 4 graham crackers for the walls and 2 set in a triangle for the roof, nice and simple.
Oh no, he made gingerbread mansions- complete with supports on the interior and each model was different. He was sawing the graham crackers to fit them perfectly into the empty spaces. The kids LOVED it. We had so much fun decorating them and eating the candy.
Oh yea, and he even asked the neighbors if they could keep an eye on Magoo and Saddie over Christmas. That's right, they are going to film Home Alone 5 at my house over the holiday, except Magoo is McCauley Culkin. I'm too sad to talk about it so this will be the only mention of it.
