Elle & Easter

Last Saturday we had Elle's birthday celebration...9 kids, 10 adults, 4 dogs, burgers, candy buffet and a yummy red velvet cake with Dora and Boots painted on it. It was a blast. Did I mention that all the people and K9s are my family and everyone was staying at Dunwoody for the weekend?

During the day we colored Easter eggs, which is one of my all time favorite traditions of any holiday. I loved doing it when we were kids all sitting around the kitchen table planning out which colors to use, waiting for the eggs to dry and carefully picking out the best of the bunch to set in our basket to show off to the Easter bunny. Last year we did not dye eggs since Elle was just about a year old and we didn't really think about it. So, this year was the first for her. We hard-boiled 5 dozen eggs and used 3 egg dying kits. We got Elle all set up at the table and handed her the first egg. She dropped it into a cup of yellow dye and after about a second she grabbed the egg out and decided to crack it open and pull it apart. Four other eggs met their fate this way, some even got squished into the cups of dye so their insides were colored too. Not exactly the way I envisioned this lovely Easter tradition. Needless to say, she did not have an egg to put in her basket for the Easter bunny.

Easter morning around 5:30 am we were all awoken by Casey's howl. (Henzy's basset hound) Magoo jumped up to check out the excitement, so I went downstairs to let him out. When I went downstairs, Jenny, Maeve and Luke were already down there. When I looked out the front door, I saw what was making Casey go nuts...a little brown bunny was sitting on my front lawn. So that's how that crazy Easter bunny gets away with it, he transforms into a regular little bunny. Aha! I grabbed Maeve and picked her up so she could see the Easter bunny sitting right outside the door. I am adding that moment to my list of favorite holiday memories.

We had a lot of fun and were super sad to see everyone leave. Having all those crazy kids around was great and our house feels too quiet now.
