Last Monday we had a snow storm and the temperature was something like 15 degrees. By Saturday it was 70 degrees, all the snow had melted and we were playing out in our yard all day. At one point the kids were out there barefoot eating ice pops. Ok, it might not have been that warm, but they were happy.
Sunday morning we turned the clocks ahead for Daylight Savings time, a practice I will never understand. Obviously the genius who came up with this idea did not have young children, because he never would have done it had he met my 2 year old on a Monday morning, much less one when her parents are forcing her to wake up "an hour earlier". Plus I am pretty sure my BGE bill will be the same next month...great idea pal, really!
I have to admit, I do love getting home and it is still light out. Last night we took advantage of the extra hours of sun and walked to the little playground in our neighborhood when we got home. Of course Elle had to walk, not ride in the stroller or wagon. And when I told her it was time to go home for dinner and that she could have one more push on the swing, she looked at me and said "No, 2 more", holding up her fingers in a peace sign position to make sure she was getting her point across.
How in the world did she learn to reason like this?
This weekend we are thinking about having a little St. Paddy's Day celebration. For a while Wade and I were kind of banning our Irish heritage. Mostly because some people make a really big deal about having Irish heritage. I mean its cool if you have some Irish heritage, but it doesn't make you cool, and it definitely doesn't make you Irish, unless you were born there. Anyway, the ban is over. We figure it is important to be open to everything now that we have a kid. So we hung up our shamrocks and we are ready for all things green.
