Cathy's Blog

This is about work, so it might be boring to some and funny to others.

This morning, I walked into the bathroom to wash out my mug and there was hair all over the sink! Grrrr. That might be the grossest thing in the world to me, other people's hair. I mean really, I get that some people carry a brush or comb to do a little maintenance throughout the day, but come on. How could she have missed the mound of hair she left in the sink and all over the counter. Yuck!

We have a "drink room", which has a free soda machine and coffee and water cooler, etc. Sometimes people use up all the water and don't replace the big bottle on the machine (like myself). I just want to say that those bottles are really heavy and there is no way I can hoist that thing up and get it onto the machine without soaking myself or the entire drink room in the process. So when it is out, I use the smaller water bottles to fill just one cup for myself. One time this guy walked in as I was filling my cup with a smaller bottle and I told him the water was out and he looks at me and says "You didn't put a new bottle on? Ewww, you are so lazy!" This comment still cracks me up when I think about it. I don't think I have ever been called lazy by a stranger before.

Most people in my office sit in cubes, there are only a few offices and somehow I have one- still not sure how that happened. But I sit right next to the ladies room so its kind of like the table at a restaurant next to the bathroom. Its not exactly requested, but someone always ends up sitting there. I think because I have an office and I am in such close proximity to the bathroom,or maybe it is my smiling face that lures people in here, either way, I get a lot of traffic in this office, so I usually get the fresh office gossip first. And let's be honest, everyone likes to hear the office gossip.

Another good thing about my location is that everyone has to pass by my office to get to the cafeteria. And since there are about a million birthdays a week here(and pretty much everyone knows how much I like cake), I almost always get invited for cake or bagels. Like just now someone came in to let me know that there are danishes from a vendor.

Oh yea, and do not get stuck in the bathroom, hallway or drink room with the little crazy lady from the call center- she will talk to anyone about anything, even if you do not make eye contact or acknowledge her or are very obviously walking away from her. I know, it sounds cruel, but I just can't handle her.

Get it... Cathy from the comic strip? Wasn't she always talking about her job?
