We left on Sunday to spend Thanksgiving week in NY. We sort of surprised everyone because they thought we were leaving Monday morning but since Wade had plans to go to the Ravens game, we left a day early. We got into Amityville around 10:30 Sunday morning and got to hang out with all the cousins and Nana & Papa. By Monday morning Elle had already colored on the unfinished wood window sill in Nana's great room- luckily crayon wipes off and they still need to sand and paint the wood work. Shortly after that she was laying on the bed up stairs yelling "Awesome" and kicking scuff marks on the walls with her sneakers. And we had a close encounter with pizza hands and the brand new yellow couch (that is not stain resistant- boy my mom must really love her grand kids!)
Wade arrived on Tuesday night, Jenny and I picked him up from the airport around 10:00. And when we got back to her house, he stayed to hang out with Mike and Sean and Jenny, Erin & I went to the Nautilus for burgers and french fries with gravy....just like back in the old days! Wednesday was a blurr of crazy kids running around, Christmas shopping for the kids gift exchange and trying to help mom get ready for Thursday. Thanksgiving day was eternal and exhausting. Erin and I were on a mission to find decorations for the dinner table so we went to Jenny's house and when we got out of the car, I closed my right thumb in the car door. OUCH! Little did I know that the pain when it first happened would be nothing compared to a few days later. As of right now, the whole thumb is a bizarre shade of purple and still swollen. That's what you get for rushing around!
A few highlights from the day: when I was getting dressed for dinner, Elle was in the room with me and I was looking in the mirror and she looked at my outfit and said "Pretty!". Wade figured out that the new hardwood floors at my parents house are perfect for sliding Ellie around on. So he would sit her down and hold her arms up in the air and slide her up and down the hall. Which she of course thought was hilarious! And Mick was able to make it back to NY for Thanksgiving so it was fun to have him there too.
